dan's bio

Hello. This is Dan's bio. How are you? I too am well. Dan grew up in a small town in Maine, you've probably never heard of it but I'll tell you it anyway. It's called Kezar Falls. Now you know. Don't forget that damnit. Dan always knew he would play drums, even before his dad got him his first drumset at the ripe old age of 11. Once that happened, he broke off contact with the "outside world" and honed his skills in a cabin behind his house in where?…that’s right, Kezar Falls. I had to eat animals that were around me and small shubbery and whatnot. Once I got a rash. Starting at age 13, he joined a ska band based in Gorham, Maine called Bloom. Together, they won several different battle-of-the bands, both landing them small record deals and much attention in the Portland area. Dan was also given the title at a statewide competition as the "best teenage drummer in the state of Maine." Yeah! While finishing high school, he continued to live off the land behind the house he grew up in.

This strange obsessive behavior continued until deciding to go to college in Boston. There Mr. Berglund studied traditional composition under the direction of Dennis LeClaire and Thomas McGah. Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Strauss and other early 20th century and post-romantics remain his favorites. He also enjoys Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, driving and, like Abbie, the occasional non-fat soy latte. Having grown up on Mr. Bungle, gardens, G.I. Joes, Seinfeld and Castaneda, his current likes and dislikes are not easily defined, though I do take great pleasure in talking in the third person. He also feels that environmental issues and renewable energy research are the most important things for the global community to focus on. If this was our biggest concern, we wouldn't have to invade foreign countries in order to sustain our own isolationist consumption. He hopes the country's majority recognizes this before Starbucks opens a booth in Congress. Dan feels we are on the eve of a revolution. Most often, I keep my hair pretty short.

Dan currently lives in Belmont, Massachusetts, continues to enjoy cooking and landscaping and is still driving a Ford Focus. It is grey. He loves playing chess, eating sushi, random screaming and talking in half nonesense. He also likes the morning, though, sometimes it’s just really hard to get up early. He hopes he will see you at the next show. If you are there, throw your shoe at him. Til then, he sincerely hopes you will have a nice day.
