for all you massachusetts dwellers, we have a bunch of fun local shows coming up. on august 1st, 2nd, and 10th, we will be performing free concerts on the tailgate stage in the VIP lot of the tweeter center in mansfield, MA. We will be opening for the dave matthews band on august 1st and 2nd, and OAR on august 10th!
we’ve invited a bunch of folks from the barak obama campaign to come down and hang out with us. i’m not exactly sure what their planning, but i’m thrilled to be involved with anything that might help barak spread the good word!
these shows will start sometime between 5 and 6pm and will end right before the music begins inside. you don’t need tickets to come down and see us, so bring the hibachi and a cooler and come hang!
also on august 10th our friends stephen kellogg and the sixers will be opening up for OAR inside the tweeter center. i opened for them a few months ago in buffalo. they’re a great band with a great new album out, and i’m excited for their set as well!
one week after these concerts, on august 16th, i’ll be performing an acoustic show at club passim in cambridge, MA. the last two or three times i’ve played there it has sold out, so make sure to buy tickets ahead of time. abbie barrett will be opening up that night. if you haven’t heard her new music yet, make sure to check it out on www.abbiebarrett.com. for tickets to the show call: 617.492.7679
other fun events this summer include opening up for desol at the higher ground in burlington, VT; opening for entrain at tupelo music hall in londonderry, NH; performing at our favorite charity event, the pan mass challenge on cape cod; and an appearance at a place called the world fellowship center in conway, NH, one of my favorite political, folky nooks in the north east!
thanks to folks in IL, CA, NH, VT, NY, and MA for coming out and supporting us on our most recent run of shows. Also thanks to john eddie, hamell on trial, entrain, braddigan, and ben jelen for having us open up for them in venues around the country. it’s incredible to be able to make music with such a diverse and talented range of artists...definitely one of my favorite parts of this job!
on another note, we’ve been working hard on new music...wahoo! our goal is to have some new recordings available to you on line within the next few months, and hopefully in CD form a few months from then...

We’re back in town after a run of 6 shows last week that took me from the 4-wheel-drivin highways of texas to the mountain passes of vermont.
thanks to supergirl suzie for hosting a fun show in dallas. for those of you who do not know of the legend of supergirl, hit up youtube and look for the many postings under kitykity. she and i are discussing creating an MP3 blog to begin to post the 100 or so songs i haven’t had the chance to release yet...(i’m looking forward to that!)
for those of you out there who would like to add to our collections of videos and pics scattered throughout the web, please, please jump on board! we have people actively participating in adding to our media postings on myspace, facebook, purevolume, youtube, and probably a handful i don’t even know about! if you want to make a vid and could use a few pointers, i suggest dropping kitykity a line from youtube…i’m sure she’d be psyched to help you out!
thanks to all of you who came out to the show in boston last week. i’m always blown away by our support in our hometown. while there were no video camera’s on site that night, josh and his brother brad have been working on some clips from the show this fall. here’s a link to eddie whistles eddie whistles as well as a cool little sampler video
FYI – didn’t get to give credit where credit was due during my last journal posting. the pic of me about to launch myself off a fairly unimpressive cliff was taken by kate fowler, and the shot of me, marianne, josh, and our new bassist and drummer, rob soper and tom arey, was taken by randy allen.
turtle and i are very proud to have participated in a rally last sunday for save darfur www.savedarfur.org. there were thousands of people that showed up in boston common protesting the genocide and it was both inspirational and an honor to be involved.
lastly i just want to say thanks to the braddigan crew for making last week very special for us. tour stops in burlilngton, vt, londonderry, nh, northampton and boston, ma were so much fun! we’ve got a lot of love for you guys, and hope our paths will continue to cross on down the road...

oh my, it's been a while!
where to begin...
we just came back from 8 shows in colorado. thanks to those who came out to see us in our first scramble through the centennial state! between shows i was able to sneak away for some hiking and boarding in the rockies. i know that rock looks kinda puny in the picture, but it was my first ledge and i was very scared...(i know what you're thinking: sweet goggles, right?)
we have a video of our song "western man"from our last boston show this fall at the middle east in cambridge, ma. thanks to all of you who came out to pack the place! we'll be heading back there for another round on april 26th with braddigan from dispatch and j.e. borgen. i can't wait!
thanks to braddigan for having us come out to open for them on tour this winter. we had a blast at the shows. to the right is a picture of turtle and i with brad, tiago and ray of braddigan at the tupelo music hall in londonderry, nh. thanks to sunnish for snapping the shot and sending it in! we'll be on the road with them again this spring, so keep checking the tour page for dates throughout the northeast...
abbie has been busy writing her own music these days! she's in the studio right now working on her first album. i've heard some of the tracks and they're sounding pretty spectacular! check out her new website (www.abbiebarrett.com) when you get a chance!
here's a copy of a new acoustic tune called she's just a girl. it's a live track from my last show at club passim in cambridge, ma.
more tour dates, more live tracks, and more new to come so keep checking in with us!

ok, first things first...
i received a number of questions on this after our last journal entry, so let me just officially say that Marley and Mraz did not actually hate me. i was joking. sorry for the confusion. i’ve never been very funny. of course, if someone was opening for me and i hated him, i certainly wouldn’t tell him to his face--so it’s certainly possible. in truth, Jason was very friendly after the show and although I didn't get to hang out with Ziggy, just being around him gave me a sweet contact high.
moving on...
i’ve been traveling a bit, and was able to open up for two great artists who you should check out if you don’t know them already. in buffalo i opened for Stephen Kellog and the Sixers www.stephenkellogg.com. they’re a fantastic acoustic rock band originally from MA who put on a hilarious show...great songwriting too!
in NH, at a place called the Stone Church, i opened for Peter Mulvey. Peter is my favorite artist on the folk circuit these days. if you haven’t heard him yet please, please check him out! warning: i’ve been listening to his cds and i think they’re great, but they don’t even come close to seeing the guy live. he’s one of the best acoustic guitarists i’ve ever seen, and an extraordinary songwriter!
i didn’t win “best male singer/songwriter” at the Boston Music Awards this year. thanks to those who voted. i was honored to be nominated again and promise that one of these days we’ll figure out how to bribe the judges...
thanks again to all of you who came out to our NYC show at the Mercury Lounge. we love that room and always look forward to playing in the city...be back soon!
lastly, i want to invite all y’all Boston listeners to our show on Friday, November 10th. it will be on the eve of my birthday, and we definitely have some special festivities planned! one of our favorite local musicians, J.E. Borgen, will be opening up the night, along with Braxton Parker from Philly. we’re also excited to have DJ Krucial make an appearance late night to help us celebrate!

i just found out that i was nominated for a boston music award in the category of "outstanding male singer/songwriter"! if you have a sec, please go on line and vote! there are some amazing artists honored in all of the categories, and i think it's great that boston is letting the listening public shape the outcome of the award ceremony, and in some small way, the direction of music in this part of the country, and in another small way, re-igniting my passion for run-on sentences... it all goes down on september 27th so get out the vote!
check this out: long time fan suzie from texas, (aka: supergirl) just sent me this video for basement song (click on "view from the basement"). she said 35 people helped her make it! wow, thanks guys...i love it! the video apparently has been making the rounds. steve from boston created a vlog commenting on the project which was then posted on the boston globe blog site.
if others out there have digital pix from shows, videos, or other AEG inspired art, please send them in. you can mail them directly to me (adam@adamezra.com) if you want. we love getting stuff from you. in fact, a lot of the photos on the site were sent in. on the picture bar for the main site you might notice a drawing flash in and out from time to time. that was sent in a while ago by artist sam balling after seeing a show. in other words, we're too poor (cheap) to afford professional photographers and artists, so get on it people...
we're working on putting some new stuff up on the music page for you. we've got some new live tracks to post from a show we played not too long ago in new york. here's a couple:
thanks to jason mraz and ziggymarley for having me open for them this summer. i had a ball at the shows. thanks to tim siekiera for taking the black and white shot of jason and me. as you can see, jason and i are clearly best friends now. ziggy, on the other hand, hates my guts. (again, kidding. jason hates me, too.)
so i'm hoping this journal will help me and other members of the group keep ya'll posted on what we're doing. i'm thrilled by the number of people hanging out on the site these days! please drop any of us a line from the contact page with questions or comments.
adam
